The AIIA Young Agents Committee is made up of 15-20 young producers from across the state who serve three terms. The Committee is responsible for many activities and initiatives that serve the association. Among these are:

*   The Annual Legislative Conference – This conference is hosted by the Young Agents Committee and is held in Montgomery each spring. All agents are encouranged to participate in the process. This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about the political climate and to meet your individual legislators. Next year's meeting will be March 17, 2005.

*   The Young Agents Sales Conference – Every summer, the Young Agents of Alabama head south to the beach for an intensive and fun-filled sales conference. We bring in nationally know “Dynamics of Sales” speakers, motivational speakers and insurance industry experts to help agents improve their sales skills. This is a family-oriented event with plenty of activities for all age groups. All young producers should make plans to attend this important conference. This year's conference will be July 22-24, 2004.

*   The Excalibur Foundation – Excalibur, the Education Foundation of the Alabama Independent Insurance Agents, Inc., is a newly formed organization whose purpose is to provide scholarship funds to students of insurance studies. The actual fundraising efforts and programs are being developed and implemented by the Young Agents Committee. Two $2,500 scholarships have been awarded, one in 2002, one in 2003. Another will be awarded in 2004.

*   Planned Giving Program – The Young Agents Committee started a new program two years ago to help underwrite the costs of conventions and meetings. The Planned Giving Program is a way for companies to commit to helping defray the costs while getting the maximum for their marketing dollar. Watch for articles about our Star, Diamond, Gold, Silver and Bronze sponsors. These are companies who are committed to seeing you succeed.

*   The Young Agents Connection – The Connection is the official newsletter of the Alabama Young Agents Committee. This publication is sent electronically to every Young Agent in Alabama and often contains information on new markets, production contests and general information for young producers. If you would like to receive a copy of this newsletter, call the AIIA office and ask to be placed on the mailing list. It’s free of charge and full of good information.
