Governor
Signs New Mandatory Liability Bill Into Law
Governor
Don Siegelman signed HB134, the newly revised mandatory liability law into
effect on May 15, 2000 which makes significant changes in the old law.
An All-Industry committee representing all parties affected by the previous
bill, presented a number of needed changes to Governor Siegelman which
ultimately resulted in HB134. The new law is effective on June 1,
2000. Your April 21st Newsline contained a list of the changes
made. If you did not receive a copy of the changes made in the new
bill, contact Nita Blankenship at the association office (205) 326-4129
and she will send you a copy.
