INDEPENDENT INSURANCE AGENTS MAKE SIZABLE CONTRIBUTION TO AIIA BULIDING PROJECT
Building Committee Chair and
AIIA Immediate Past-President Arthur Williams met with the executive board of
the Birmingham Independent Insurance Agents (BIIA) Association last week to
secure support for AIIA’s Building Project. BIIA was thrilled to be the first
to contribute to the Building Project’s Capital Campaign. “After years of
talking about a new facility, it is now becoming reality. A special ‘Thank You’
goes to BIIA for their pledge of $300,000 over the next five years for our
building project,” says Williams. “BIIA sponsored our Education classroom which
will have enough space to house CIC classes. This support will certainly reduce
our debt quicker!”
“Our local Birmingham
Association has always believed that we have a very important role supporting
the state AIIA,” says BIIA President Brian Skinner of Crawford-Skinner,
Springville. “BIIA looks forward to having a much larger classroom and better
parking.”
Williams continues with an
update on the building’s progress, “The survey is completed and we are close to
closing on the lot at Lakeshore Crossings. The Building Committee selected
Golden Construction from a group of nine candidates to be our contractor. Our
architect is in the final stages of design. The new classroom will house 125
students and will accommodate 144 parking spaces. We anticipate a
groundbreaking in early April. The construction start date is scheduled for May
2004 with a completion date by year end. Our Capital Campaign, co-chaired by
AIIA President-Elect Jim Williams and AIIA Secretary-Treasurer Jay Ison, will
kick off soon. As you can tell, it certainly is a New Day at AIIA.”
